Residence - court life of ducs, prince-electors and kings

Duration: 2 hours
The Residenz originated in the 14th century and was gradually expanded until 1918 the end of the monarchy in Bavaria. It served as the seat of government and home of the Wittelsbach dynasty, the Bavarian rulers for more then 700 years. Guided visit through the magnificent appartments of the Residence which belonged to the most marvellous palaces in entire Europe. Admire unique pieces of art and learn more about etiquette and court life.
Highlights are the Antiquarium the largest secular Renaissance hall north of the Alps, the magnificent Rococo rooms of the Rich chambers, and the Ancestral gallery.
  • In addition to the magnificent rooms, you can stroll through the inner courtyards of the palace complex. The sensational winter garden on the roof unfortunately no longer exists but pictures and stories will take you into Ludwig's world.
  • This palace is one of the largest spatial art museums in the world.

Nymphenburg Palace - a truly princely gift!

  • Fairy tale king Ludwig II, was born here. Not only his death was mysterious but also his birth. Do you want to know why?
  • For garden lovers and lovers of landscape architecture a must. Adjacent to the palace park is also the Botanical Garden. Here you can enjoy discovering native and exotic plants.
  • In the Marstall, the carriage museum, I will explain to you where the saying "slide down my hump" comes from.
